"Let’s not go to Church, let’s be the Church."
The Gathering will begin with a core group of committed Christians who will meet as house churches connected to one another through service projects. Once The Gathering has grown to three or four house churches with 30-40 individuals, preparations will begin for launching our Sunday morning worship service.
New prospects will be sought through personal connections. Spiritually mature individuals who join The Gathering and express a willingness to serve will be identified and trained as potential house church leaders. This leadership group will meet monthly with the lead pastor to assess the progress of our mission and to engage in training and share successes and concerns. For every 2-5 house churches, a service group coordinator will be responsible for leading the monthly service project.
As the church grows, provisions will be made for children and teen ministries, both on Sunday mornings and throughout the week. Children and teens will be encouraged to participate with their parents in all service projects. Staff will be added as finances allow, and as the church grows we will seek to adapt to future needs by following the principles of simplicity, authenticity, and transformation.
