"Church is the human outworking of the person of Jesus Christ."

Financing

How churches spend the money that is donated to them is an area of great concern for those investigating the faith. As such, complete transparancy is essential. Since one of the largest line items in any church’s budget (local expenses) will be significantly reduced by the structure of the church, it will be the stated goal of The Gathering to spend at least 50 cents of every dollar given on ministry to the poor and missions.

The Budget

The yearly budget for The Gathering will be divided into four sections:

  1. Service and Ministry (50%) – At least half of all funds will be directed towards local service projects, compassionate ministry centers, food distribution, child sponsorship, the World Evangelism Fund, and other missions and ministry projects that focus on meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the poor.
  1. Local expenses (20%) – No more than 20% of income will be used on local church expenses. This line item will include facility rental, discipleship material, website expenses, etc. Each year’s projected budget for local expenses will be set by the previous year’s income.
  1. Pastoral Staff (20%) – No more than 20% of the church’s income will be used for pastoral and staff salaries. The exact figures for the pastor’s and staff’s salary will be set at the beginning of the church year by the church board and based on the previous year’s income.
  1. Denominational Budgets (10%) – This will include the District Ministries, Education, and Pensions and Benefits Funds assigned by the denomination.
